It was hard to take a good picture...This is the most intricate quilt and included beads, pieces of felt and hand embroidery |
We have crows in our neighborhood or are they ravens? At sunset the sky fills up with migrating birds. |
Sorry for all the shadows and sub-standard photo quality...The quilts were well lit for observer not the camera. There were many quilts on exhibit that I would have loved to have taken a picture of but we were asked not to. So much inspiration, talent and love went into each quilt. I was amazed.
I spent time looking at what the vendors were offering and the long-arm quilting machines were humming along.
I did come back with a few quilt projects....what was I thinking. But as one vendor said, 'Fabric doesn't go bad!', and a sign in another booth stated 'Your husband called and said to buy anything you like'. So with restraint, I purchased 2 quilt kits which includes the fabric for the top of the quilt, binding and pattern, two other quilt patterns, 16 Hawaiian print fat quarters and some 12 gauge vinyl. So my justification is #1 ~ I cannot get these items where I live & #2 ~ I was stimulating the economy and small businesses.
I thought I would only spend an hour due to past experiences with the quilt shows in San Diego. I walked around for 5 hours and could have spent more. My feet were tired and I had traffic and a two hour car ride to think of. Next year I will plan to arrive when they open and stay a little longer.
