A Granddaughter's treasures ~

All hand stitched
Bowtie Quilt

These are all quilts that a friend shared with me. Her grandmother, Virginia, made them from the shirts and dresses that her son and granddaughters wore. My camera simply does not do them justice. As she talked about each fabric and which family member wore it, I had chills, the super neat kind. Amazing handwork.

I am so glad she shared these with me because it couldn't have come at a better time. My sewing machine started making a repetitive squeaking noise on Sunday while at the sewing day with the San Diego Modern Quilting Guild. Sorry ladies, I know it was annoying. I was able to get every last sashing strip sewn to each postcard row, whew! Took my machine in to a local repair shop.

Once they heard I was a quilter, they tried to sell me various, higher end machines. Even suggesting to trade mine in. I have gotten rather attached to my machine even though it is nothing fancy, it had stitched 15 quilts, many bags and several dresses. I know I will eventually need something a little more heavy duty for actual quilting. Not yet.

Today I will pick up my tuned up machine and be ready to go, to hopefully finish the quilt top today.

We are enjoying slightly cooler weather. Time to plant the garden.
