One of the creative ladies in the San Diego Modern Quilt Guild posted a picture of her pile of quilts on flickr the other day. Inspired by her picture, I rummaged around my closet and there I found what I had been hiding. At first I was embarrassed, then felt a pang of guilt that I have a stack of unfinished quilts this high. I should complete these very pretty quilts that I worked so hard on. Sometimes I am not inspired to create a quilt back and decide what design to free-motion quilt to put it all together. Eventually I will, but some I think I made just to learn a new technique, some were made because of a vacation and others because of the fabric line I loved so much. So I will not be hard on myself and just leave these beauties for another day.

I am still working on the king size Hawaiian Postcard quilt that is taking up every last pin I have, a Super Secret quilt to finish, stitching up Piece by Piece this weekend and any other project that may pop up. A squirrel moment is the very thing that derails my best laid plans.

What's in your closet?

Cabbage Patch nearly finished ~

Cabbage Patch aka Strawberry Fields

So the top is mostly completed with the exception of the white border that finishes the points for all the squares. But funny thing, as I was cutting the fabric I accidentally skipped the cutting of the white frames then wondered why I had so many 2 1/2" squares left over? So tomorrow, white quilter's muslin for the frames with their accompanying squares. Next to find the fabric for the ends. Finding the perfect fabric is never-ending.

Now for those projects that have been waiting ~

Single Girl Quilt

I had seen many Single Girls Quilt's on the blogs I follow and I knew I needed to make one. But for which darling daughter. I was picking out fabric and love Children at Play which I purchased for dd #4, purchased and cut out various feed sack prints for dd #2 & 3. Then I came across Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree...perfect soft tones for my daughter #1. I underestimated how much time it would take and was stitching the binding up until Christmas Eve. I also purchased flannel for the backing and realized that I had enough to make pillowcases. My daughter was coming out from the East Coast for Christmas and I was trying my hardest to finish.
She hadn't been home in a couple of years so as she was wandering around the house she had seen the other quilts I had made for her sisters and she made the comment, "I would like a quilt....." mumble mumble.....Yea! I knew I had made a good choice. I stitched every night in my room and was trying to finish the pillowcases when she came into my office and saw me pinning and sewing the pillowcases. I quickly said they were for my my husband. Later she told be she thought they were kinds girly for a man....duh! So it is fitting that I should take the picture of the quilt with her holding it in our front yard. Looks like fall, it was December 26th 2011.

I had best start on the others before they aren't 'single' anymore.

Have a great weekend!
