Valentines

On Valentines Day my sweet husband tucked this cute pez dispenser into my darling daughter #4's backpack for her to discover. As always, we are heading out late and rushing to the car and to school. I walk her up to the school with her backpack slung over her shoulder and a bag filled with Valentines for her classmates and friends. When dd#4 arrived home after school she was in tears and I couldn't imagine what could have happened. One of the best days of the year as far as a child is concerned.

My husband picked her up and asked about the surprise her had left for her...she bursted into tears. She thought we had put the pez dispenser into her backpack and in the rush forgotten to tell her it was for her teacher so that is what she did, gave it to her teacher. I called the school to reach the teacher and let her know about the mix-up and had to leave a message. But assured her that if she was enjoying the present, that was fine.

I shared this story with a friend. She immediately said that my daughter was thinking of others first. To open your backpack and see a surprise and to give it to someone else....sweet.

The teacher called me back after hearing my message and thought it was funny. My daughter received her Valentine the next day.
